The Indian Forage Crops Consortium recently held its 2nd stakeholder meeting at the Punjab Agro Industrial Complex, Ludhiana, bringing together key players from agriculture, dairy, and industry.
Led by Shri Bhawandeep Singh Sidhu (PAIC) and the Consortium Secretariat team—Shri Gurbinder Singh Gill and Shri Vipin Sharma—the session focused on scaling alfalfa cultivation to boost livestock nutrition and dairy productivity across Punjab.
The Consortium shared encouraging outcomes from 55 acres of alfalfa trials, which demonstrated high-quality forage yields enabled by mechanized harvesting. Participants observed live demonstrations of harvesters, tedders, and balers, showcasing how technology can extend fodder shelf life and improve quality.
Excellent insights were shared by Shri Daljit Singh Gill and Shri Munish Sharma on adoption strategies and quality enhancement in alfalfa.
